What Would Be A Good Season For Chelsea in 2019-20?

The arrival of Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge has been greeted with admiration by the fans, and the belief that the club legend can do no wrong will be truly tested in the upcoming season. Lampard arrives at the Bridge, having only had one season in management, but the expectations that he has the tools to lead the club into a new era are overwhelming.

What Would Be A Good Season For Chelsea in 2019-20

Punters are unsure on how to bet on Chelsea for the impending season as it looks like it could go any way. Gambling fans don’t know whether to include Chelsea on their top four bets or include them in their super Heinz calculator with Football Junkie.

The truth is nobody really knows the answer to the questions of whether the legend’s legacy at the club will be diminished or extended over the next 12 months. Fans have been quick to say that Lampard will be given more time than previous managers due to his standing at the club, but the same was said for the second stint of Jose Mourinho before the Chelsea Faithful dramatically demanded for the firing of the Portuguese before Christmas.

It’s unlikely that Lampard will be gone by December. In fact, the club will likely give him until the end of the season, but the feeling that this is mainly down to their transfer embargo remains to linger. The club have already lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid and with fans demanding younger players be given a chance to shine; what would constitute as a good season at Stamford Bridge for the coming campaign.

Top Four

Undoubtedly the minimum target that Frank Lampard needs to achieve to ensure that he can stay in the job for the next season is a place in the top four of the Premier League. The competition will be fierce with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal all vying for that spot. Meanwhile, Leicester City, Everton, and Wolves will also be feeling that the fourth space is up for grabs this season, which means the Blues will have to start the season well.

Their opening day clash against Manchester United will be a useful marker for how they plan to approach the season and could be a good early indication of how life under Lampard is different than when the team was under the control of Maurizio Sarri. The tactics will be crucial as fans became restless under the boring football played by the Italian, and Lampard will need to rectify this quickly to get fans on his side.

Trophies

The top honours such as the Premier League and the Champions League seem impossible for Chelsea to claim. Players such as Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount will need at least one season to settle into consistent first-team action before they are genuinely asked to deliver silverware. However, the League Cup or FA Cup would present a significant success if Lampard can provide it in his first season, it would be the ideal statement that claims he is the right man to lead the club forward in the new era.
