Well now there is a new app available on the iTunes store, called "Swemos" and it is a lovely app that lets you save your pictures in a friendly way that allow you to share your pictures with friends and family.
Swemos - Create photo albums and travel journals screenshots
When you first start the app, you are presented with a couple of demonstration photobooks that you can play with, to get a feeling for how the application works. Each "photobook" is a book representation of your pictures, the same as if you put those into a real photo album.
From the main screen, you can add new albums by pressing the settings button, and then you press the plus button to add a new album. Adding albums is quite easy, first you give your album name, and then you choose a picture from your photo gallery that will serve as the album cover.
You can alternatively take a new picture using the device camera. This makes it truly easy for you to create albums while on the go. Once you select or take the picture that will serve as the album cover, the next thing to do is to save the album and select it for editing.
Once you have opened the album in editing mode, you can add unlimited photo slides, each picture having it's own title and description. When adding photos to the album, you can also specify for the application to read from the photo file, the time stamp of the picture.
The timing information that is embedded in the photo will be automatically updated to the album, so you will always have a good reference when pictures were taken. Another really cool feature about this app is that you can geo-target your photos using the built in maps functionality.
The maps functionality, when used, allows you to search for a city, town or destination on the map, and then assign that location to the photo. When map information is saved to photos, a extremely cool interactive map is generated for each photo individually and for the album.
If your album has pictures from different physical locations, you can assign each location to the photo and then view pictures on a map with a pin thumbnail photo. The pin thumbnails makes navigating pictures by the location they were taken from, very easy and fun to use.
What is a great photo album without being able to share it? With Swemos, you can also share your finished photobooks with others on Facebook, by email, between devices using Bluetooth, or you can copy the picture and use images from your photobook in other applications on the iPad.
The bottom line, is that this is a remarkably charming app for creating photobooks of your pictures and has friendly sharing features built in.
