As the game starts, you're given a short intro to the history of the Mantalopian Knights, a band of warriors who have previously been defeated by the monster hordes that have taken over their kingdom, and all their fortresses.

As the story goes, the Knights have re-banded and formulated a plan to take back the kingdom fortress by fortress and exact their revenge upon the monster hordes. Due to the fact that the Knights no longer have a castle of their own, they must operate from mobile castle, mounted on top of a large camel like animal.

Your job as a Knight is to direct your soldiers in defeating the monster hordes as you travel the landscape, battling it out with the horde, with the objective to re-capture the fortresses that were lost in the previous war against the hordes.

You begin playing by taking part in a short campaign tutorial, where you are educated in the use of the short bow automatic shooting Knight, and the Long Bow, long range Knight. As your mobile fortress moves along, you will encounter different kinds of horde creatures.

Some of the horde creatures are particularly small, like the common horde foot soldier, and these kinds of creatures cannot do you much harm, but if you do not kill them when you encounter them, then you will still lose a steady amount of health points.

Speaking of health points, in Roaming Fortress, you are allotted an initial amount of 500 points, which will gradually decrease as the game progresses. As you progress in the game, you will unlock new capabilities and weapons by defeating the hordes that are guarding the stone fortresses that you come across.

With each new weapon capability you earn, you are able to practice with a quick tutorial. There is a good amount of strategy in the game, and you must choose your weapons wisely if you are to conquer the evil monster hordes.

After you capture a stone fortress, you can then replenish your supplies and health, and get new abilities. This game is a lot of fun to play, and the soundtrack is just right for this style of game. If you like to play tower defense style of games, then you will undoubtedly appreciate this game.

The animation effects are truly good, and because the gameplay is so fun and entertaining, it is very easy to spend a lot of time, building up your mobile fortress and winning the kingdom. I highly recommend this game, it is one of the best in the genre that I have seen yet.
